LWC Softball opens 2018 season at Marilyn Sparks Park - Today - 20 Feb 2018 By Anthony Latessa COLUMBIA, KY - The No. 8-ranked Lindsey Wilson softball team opens its 2018 season on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 when they host Bryan (TN) in a doubleheader at 2pmCT at Marilyn D. Sparks Park, inside Lindsey Wilson Sports Center, 928 Russell Road, Columbia, KY. Due to forecasted inclement weather for the weekend the Blue Raiders added the doubleheader with Bryan for Tuesday. Lindsey Wilson went 39-13 in 2017 and 21-1 in the Mid-South Conference capturing its sixth MSC regular season title. The Blue Raiders hosted their fifth consecutive NAIA Opening Round last season. Lindsey Wilson returns eight All-MSC selections from a season ago. Amber Foukes, Cassie Kooker, Lauren Lett, Samantha Luckett and Callum Pilgrim earned First Team honors. Sydney Fourman, Amy Rogers and Taylor Slade were Second Team selections. The Lions (1-5) went 1-3 at the Georgia Gwinnett College Invitational Friday-Saturday. Bryan faced the host Grizzlies three times and were outscored 29-2 in those games. The Lions closed out the invitational with a 1-0 win in eight innings against West Virginia Tech. Hannah O'Shields led the way for Bryan with two hits. Lindsey Dunn pitched all eight innings allowing just two hits while striking out three and not allowing a walk. Last season, Bryan went 23-24 with a 15-5 record in the Appalachian Athletic Conference. Lindsey Wilson is 7-0 all-time against Bryan. The two teams met three times last season with the Blue Raiders outscoring the Lions 19-3 in those games including an 8-0 victory in the last meeting on April 21, 2017.
