COLUMBUS, Ohio - (17 Feb 2018) - The Lindsey Wilson women's indoor track and field finished in first at the Mid-South Conference Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Capital University (Ohio).



The Blue Raiders earned 177 total team points, and finished 19 points ahead of second-place Shawnee State (Ohio) who recorded 158 team points. Cumberlands (KY) finished in third with 126 points.

It is the second straight year the Blue Raiders have taken home the MSC Tournament Championship.

In total, Lindsey Wilson athletes won six events and were runners-up in three more on the day - racking up seven first team and four second team honors for 11 total All MSC accolades for the tournament.

Freshman Leia Gregory received Freshman Athlete of the Year honors at the event after finishing in second place in the triple jump at the championship. Gregory posted a 10.85-meter jump, just 0.04-meters off of Ja'Zell Woodard-Johnson of Campbellsville (KY) first place finish.

Safia Bright raced her way to a first place finish in the 60-meter dash when she posted a national A cut time of 7.49 seconds. Bright added her second first place finish of the day in the 200-meter dash when she posted an A cut time of 24.99 seconds.

Lindsey Wilson teammates, Bright and Alexia DeHaven-Boyd finished in first and second place in the 400-meter dash after Bright set the pace with a time of 1:00.21 and DeHaven-Boyd finished just 0.07 seconds behind with a time of 1:00.28.

Bright picked up her fourth and final First Team All MSC accolade when she teamed up with Blue Raider teammates Lauren Buchanan, Hailey Martin and DeHaven-Boyd in the 4x400-meter relay and recorded a first place finish of 4:24.00.

Annesha Harris took first place in the 60-meter hurdles after crossing the finish line in 9.43 seconds.

Paige Pettell took home first place in the shot put place after registering an A cut 13.87-meter throw.

Kaylin Anderson, Dezare Jackson, Buchanan and Taylor Jones teamed up in the 4x800-meter relay to take second place with a time of 10:49.70.
