Ruth Halcolm, Taylor Co./Rockcastle Co., KY native (1939-2018)

She was native of Rockcastle Co., KY, and a resident of Taylor County, KY, at the time of her death. She was a professed Christian, and a member of Elk Horn Baptist Church. She had a long career and retired as a supervisor from H. Bartle Sewing in Richmond, IN. She was the daughter of the late Ted Allen & Dona Hale Allen. With her passing, three siblings survive of her 15 brothers and sisters. She was the widow of John Halcomb, her husband of 43 years.

Ruth Halcomb, 78, of Campbellsville, KY, died at 9:11amET, Wednesday, January 31, 2018 in Campbellsville.

The funeral service will be at 5pmCT/6pmET, Friday, February 2, 2018 at Elk Horn Baptist Church, 3145 Elkhorn Road, Campbellsville, KY, by Bro. Eddie Finn. Visitation will be 3pm-5pmCT/4pm-6pmET, Friday, February 2, 2018 at Elk Horn Baptist Church. Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery, Richmond, IN.



Ruth Halcolm, Taylor Co, KY (1939-2018)


She was born July 11, 1939, in Rockcastle County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Ted Allen & Dona Hale Allen. She died Wednesday, January 31, 2018, in Campbellsville, Taylor County, KY, at the age of 78 years, six months, and 20 days.

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Elk Horn Baptist Church.

Ruth was a retired supervisor from Adam & H. Bartle Sewing in Richmond, IN.

She united in marriage to John Halcomb September 22, 1959 and he preceded her in death February 4, 2003.

She is survived by:
  • One sister and two brothers: Velma Bond and husband, Curt of Campbellsville, KY; Gillus Allen of Orlando, KY; and Virgil Allen of Richmond, IN

  • Three special nieces: Debbie Gilpin, Gina Byrd and husband, Donnie Wayne, Sara Mardis and husband, Justin of Campbellsville, KY

  • Several other nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends
She was also preceded in death by eleven brothers and sisters: Eddie Allen, Teddie Allen, Willie Allen, William Allen, Easter Allen, Laura Owens Allen, Gertrude Smith, Anna Lee Mullins, Marie Allen, Delbert Allen and Orba Allen.
