Violet Buis, 84, Casey County, KY (1931-2018)

She was a housewife, a Kentucky Colonel, and a member of the Rich Hill Christian Church. She was a native of Somerset, KY, and a resident of Liberty, KY, at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late James B. & Minnie Meeks Lawless and the widow of Ancil Buis. She was the matriarch of a large, highly respected family. She leaves 35 direct living descendants.

Violet Buis age 86, of Liberty, KY passed away on Sunday January 28, 2018 at her residence.

Funeral Services will be held at 10amCT/11amET, Wednesday January 31st, 2018 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel, 142 KY Hwy 49, Liberty, KY, with Bro. Johnny Maupin officiating. Burial will in the Rich Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 5pm-8pmCT/6pm-9pmET, Tuesday January 30, 2018 and after 7amCT/8amET, on Wednesday January 31st, 2018 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.

She was born in Somerset, Pulaski County, KY on May 14, 1931. She was a daughter of the late James B. & Minnie Meeks Lawless. She died Sunday, January 28, 2018, in Liberty, Casey County, KY, at the age of 86 years, eight months, and 14 days.

Violet was the widow of Ancil Buis who passed away on May 7, 1990. She was a housewife, a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Rich Hill Christian Church. Survivors include:
  • Four daughters: Linda Buis of Liberty, KY; Susan Weddle of Somerset, KY; Beverly Wesley of Liberty, KY; and Melissa and (Kendall) Price of Liberty, KY

  • Three sons: Tony and (Terry Jo) Buis of Liberty, KY; Timothy and (Tara) Buis of Liberty, KY; and Terry Craig Buis of Liberty, KY

  • Eleven grandchildren: Brittany King, Justin Buis, Ginger Emerson, Jill Upton, Tyler Buis, Brandon Mills, Shane Weddle, Eric Weddle, Travis Buis, Sara Stull and Kelly Buis

  • Seventeen great grandchildren
Besides her parents and spouse she was preceded in death by one son, Steve Buis; one grandson, Trey Buis; and six siblings.
