HB243 would combine Adair with Monroe, Clinton, Cumberland and Metcalfe Representative Toby Herald, a republican from Beattyville, KY, has filed House Bill 243 (PDF), which would drastically reduce the number of counties in Kentucky, combining 100 counties to create 34 new mega-counties. HB243 proposes that "The following counties shall be consolidated on January 1, 2023, as 4 enumerated in subsections (1) to (34) of this section:"
