Loenell Shipp, 89, Campbellsville, KY (1929-2018)

She professed faith in Christ and was a very dedicated member of the Campbellsville First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where she faithfully served as secretary, treasurer and elder over the years and was active in the Cumberland Presbyterian Women's Group. Loenell was very busy in her church and community, but her family was always first and foremost, she found time to make wedding dresses and wedding cakes for not only her daughters, but also for others.

Loenell Shipp of Campbellsville, KY, died at 2:15amET, Sunday, January 14, 2018 at her home. She was 89 years old.

Visitation will be 4pm-7pmCT/5pm-8pmET on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon Avenue, Campbellsville, KY. The funeral service will be at 10amCT/11amET on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, with Rev. John Butler officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery.

Loenell Shipp was the daughter of the late Oscar Melton & Cora Newton Melton, and was born January 13, 1929 in Taylor County, KY. She died Sunday January 14, 2018, in Campbellsville, Taylor County, KY, at the age of 89 years and one day.

She professed faith in Christ and was a very dedicated member of the Campbellsville First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where she faithfully served as secretary, treasurer and elder over the years and was active in the Cumberland Presbyterian Women's Group.

She retired from GTE after twenty-nine years of service and was a former operator supervisor and spent many years as a member of the Business and Professional Women's club.

Even though Loenell was very busy in her church and community, her family was always first and foremost, she found time to make wedding dresses and wedding cakes for not only her daughters, but also for others.

She united in marriage to Glenwood Shipp October 25, 1959 and he preceded her in death August 2, 2005.

She is survived by:
  • Two daughters: Jill Dudgeon and husband, Terry of Campbellsville, KY; and Joan Graham and husband, Doug, of Frankfort, KY

  • Four grandchildren: Matthew Dudgeon and Tyler Dudgeon of Campbellsville, KY; Cassidy Coffey and husband, Logan of Bellevue, KY; and Mea Graham of Frankfort, KY

  • Three brothers: Arvin Melton and wife, Edris: Carl Melton and wife, Joyce; and Don Melton of North Carolina

  • One sister-in-law, Kay Shipp of Campbellsville, KY

  • Several nieces and nephews

  • And many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by two granddaughters: Ashley Sarah Graham and Amber Susan Graham and two brothers: Lennie Melton and Ronald Melton.
