Martha (Maupin) Caldwell, Adair County, KY (1929-2017)

She was a member of Columbia Christian Church and retired from the USDA. She was a member of a leading Adair County, KY, family. She was the daughter of the late Mont & Mattie Keltner Maupin and the widow of David Caldwell. She leaves seven direct living descendants.

Martha Caldwell, 88, of Columbia, KY,, died Thursday, December 28, 2017 at her home.

Funeral service will be Sunday, December 31, 2017 at 2pmCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Raymond Martin officiating. Burial will be in Columbia Cemetery, 315 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 5pmCT, Saturday, December 30, 2017, at the funeral home.



Casket Bearers: Brent Grider, Jason Grider, Bobby Caldwell Jr., Billy Caldwell, Chase Willis, and Gene Robinson.

Honorary: Todd Grider, Julie Tucker, Grant Caldwell, Mason Caldwell, Bobby Sullivan, David Martin, and Chris Tucker.

She was born March 22, 1929, in Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Mont & Mattie Keltner Maupin. She died Thursday, December 28, 2017, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 88 years, nine months, and six days.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Caldwell on June 19, 1985; by her brother, James C. Maupin, and two sisters, Libby Dohoney and Frances Pepper.

She was a member of Columbia Christian Church and retired from the USDA. Survivors include:
  • One daughter: Marsha Grider & her husband Tommy of Columbia, KY

  • One son: Bryan Caldwell & his wife Crystal of Columbia, KY

  • Four grandchildren: Todd Grider & his wife Missy, Julie Tucker & her husband Chris, Grant and Mason Caldwell

  • One great-granddaughter: Paige Grider

  • Special Caregiver: Peggy Tarter
