Mrs. Gloria Joyce (Ivey) Black, Cumberland Co., KY (1935-2017)

She was of Protestant faith and a homemaker. She was the daughter of the late R V & Evelyn Irene (Anthony) Ivey. Her husband of 64 years, Billy F. Black, Burkesville, KY, survives. She was a native of Brinson, GA, and a resident of Burkesville, KY, at the time of her death here. Her final resting place will be in Cumberland County, KY. She leaves 13 direct living descendants.

Mrs. Gloria Joyce, 82, (Ivey) Black of Burkesville, KY, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2017 at her residence in Burkesville, KY. The funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 1pmCT, in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home, 601 N Main Street, Burkesville, KY, with burial in the Burkesville Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 2pmCT, on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 until the funeral hour on Thursday.



Mrs. Gloria Joyce (Ivey) Black, Cumberland Co., KY (1935-2017)


She was born in Brinson, Decatur County, GA, on Saturday, March 30, 1935. She was the daughter of R V & Evelyn Irene (Anthony) Ivey. She died Monday, December 18, 2017, in Burkesville, Cumberland County, KY, at the age of 82 years, eight months, and 18 days.

She was of Protestant faith and a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Charles W. Ivey.

She is survived by her husband, Billy F. Black, of Burkesville, KY, whom she wed on December 5, 1953 and the following:
  • Her sons: Ricky (and Brenda) Black of Bowling Green, KY; Carl (and Karen) Black of Burkesville, KY; and Matthew Black of Gallatin, TN

  • Her siblings: Judge (and LeNelle) Ivey of Las Cruces, NM; Donald Lewis Ivey of Ft. Walton Beach, FL

  • Five grandchildren

  • Five great-grandchildren
