Creon Melson, 75, Cundiff, Adair County, KY (1942-2017)

Creon was owner of Melson Roofing for over 45 years. He attended Melson Ridge Community Separate Baptist Church, was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and a strong Republican. He was an extremely influential leader in his area and of all Adair County. He was a one-man economic development institution in his community, who provided good employment for dozens of workers, primarily from his district, who applied his Christian faith in all aspects of his life. He was the patriarch of his family. He was the son of the late Russell & Lela Shearer Melson. His wife, Betty Coomer, survives. He leaves 18 direct living descendants. He will be greatly missed.

Creon Melson, 75, of the Cundiff community, died Sunday, December 17, 2017 at 12:12amET at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, KY.

Visitation will be after 5pmCT on Tuesday, December 19. The funeral service will be Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 11amCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Michael Helm and Bro. Stanley Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Shearer Cemetery at Cundiff, KY.



Creon Melson, 75, Cundiff, KY (1942-2017)


He was born Monday, April 20, 1942, in Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late Russell & Lela Shearer Melson. He died Sunday December 17, 2017, in Somerset, Pulaski County, KY, at the age of 75 years, seven months, and 27 days.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Eric Russell Melson and Timothy Creon Melson.

Creon was owner of Melson Roofing for over 45 years, attended Melson Ridge Community Separate Baptist Church, a member of the Chamber of Commerce and a strong Republican.

Survivors include:
  • His wife: Betty Coomer Melson of Cundiff, KY

  • One son: Richie & his wife Angela Melson of Cundiff, KY

  • Two daughters: Judy & her husband Tony Grant of Cundiff, KY; and Rhonda and her husband David Begley of Coburg, KY.

  • One brother: Jimmy Melson of Jamestown, KY

  • One sister: Rema Ramlaoui of California

  • Seven grandchildren

  • Eight great-grandchildren

  • Several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
