James Lee White, age 78, of Summer Shade, died Thursday, December 15, 2017 at Bluegrass Hospice Care Center in Lexington, KY.

Funeral services will be Monday, December 18, 2017 at 1pmCT, at McMurtrey Funeral Home, 2232 Summer Shade Road, Summer Shade, KY. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, December 17, 2017, 1pm-8pmCT, and on Monday, December 18, 2017 after 7amCT until time of services.



James Lee White, 78, Summer Shade, KY (1939-2017)


Born January 19, 1939 in Edmonton, KY, he was a son of the late Clure Douglas & Kathleen Martin White. He died Thursday, December 15, 2017, in Lexington, Fayette County, KY, at the age of 78 years, 10 months, and 26 days.

He was a truck driver and an Army veteran.

Survivors include:
  • One daughter: Lesa (Chris) Lopeman, TX

  • One son: Greg White, Summer Shade; KY

  • One step daughter: Sue Barone, Chicago, IL

  • Five grandchildren: Jesse Ray White, Taylor Jean White, Harley Jean White, Nyssa Lopeman, and Raistlin Lopeman

  • Five step grandchildren: Tracy Murphy, Teresa Jones, Phillip Jones Jr, Shaun Murphy, and Josh Barone

  • Several great grandchildren

  • One sister: Dorothy Stewart, Edmonton, KY

  • One half sister: Josephine Harper, Edmonton, KY
  • Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one step daughter, Patricia White, and one sister Shirley White.

    McMurtrey Funeral Home, 2232 Summer Shade Road, Summer Shade, KY is in charge of arrangements.
