Mattie Roberts Hutchison, 96, Adair Co., KY/Taylor Co. native (1921-2017)

She was a member of Columbia United Methodist Church, a former lay leader, member of the Chancel Choir and United Methodist Women and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. She was a member of Cane Valley Homemakers for over 50 years, member of the Columbia Community Choir and Columbia Women's Club. She was a member of an outstanding family. She was the daughter of the late Homer & Lettie Feese Roberts Christie and the widow of Marvin Hutchison. She leaves 11 direct living descendants.

Mattie Hutchison 96, formerly of Columbia, KY, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2107 at 7:16amET, at her home in the Symphony at Oaklawn in Louisville, KY.

Funeral service will be Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 1pmCT, at Columbia United Methodist Church, 202 Burkesville Street, Columbia, KY, with Rev. Laura Harris the officiating clergy. Interment will be in the Cane Valley Cemetery, 83 Cane Valley Cemetery Road, Columbia, KY. The family requests visiting 9am-12pmNoonCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, and from 12:15pmCT, until the funeral hour at Columbia United Methodist Church.



Pallbearers: Alexander Clark, Jonathan Clark, Larry Clark, James Roberts, Richard Royse, and Wesley Royse.

She was born October 5, 1921 in Campbellsville, KY the daughter of the late Homer & Lettie Feese Roberts Christie. She died Sunday, December 3, 2017, in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, at the age of 96 years, one month, and 28 days.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Marvin Hutchison in 2000; and by one brother, Richard Roberts.

She is survived by:
  • Two daughters: Donna Royse & husband Richard of Jeffersonville, IN; and Deborah Clark & husband Larry of Danville, KY

  • Four grandchildren: Wesley Royse (Martha) of Louisville, KY; Nicole Royse DuMontier (Tom) of Staunton, VA; Jonathan Clark of Springfield, IL; and Alexander Clark of Madison, WI

  • Five great-grandchildren: Ian Royse, Brady Royse, Daniel Royse, Wallis Dumontier, and Saskia Dumontier
