For to us a child is born -- a verse for this first Sunday of Advent By Rev. John E. Chowning, pastor, Saloma Baptist Church 1505 West Saloma Road, outside of Campbellsville, KY A verse for this first Sunday of Advent -- "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this." - Isaiah 9:6-7 NIV Today’s Advent theme is Hope – we look forward with Hope to the coming of Jesus into our lives – we remember his first coming as he was born as a baby in Bethlehem more than 2,000 years ago. -- JEC This story was posted on 2017-12-03 17:49:12
