Margretta Thompson, Casey Co., KY (1935-2017)

Margretta was a retired teacher from Middleburg Elementary. She also taught at Indian Creek and Cox Elementary and was a member of Middleburg Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Eunice & Maude Nichols Williams. Her husband, Lillard Ray Thompson, survives. She leaves two direct living descendants.

Margretta Thompson, age 82, of Richmond, KY formerly of Middleburg, KY, passed away on Sunday November 26, 2017 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond.

Funeral Services were held at 12pmNoonCT/1pmET, Thursday November 30, 2017 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel, 142 KY Hwy 49, Liberty, KY with Bro. Keith Bowling officiating. Burial is in the Middleburg Cemetery. Visitation was held 5pm-8pmET, Wednesday November 29, 2017 and after 8amET, Thursday November 30, 2017 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.

She was born in Yosemite, Casey County, KY on August 14, 1935, a daughter of the late Eunice & Maude Nichols Williams. She died Sunday, November 26, 2017, in Richmond, Madison County, KY, at the age of 82 years, three months, and 12 days.

Margretta was a retired teacher from Middleburg Elementary. She also taught at Indian Creek and Cox Elementary and was a member of Middleburg Baptist Church.

Survivors include:
  • Her spouse: Lillard Ray Thompson

  • One daughter: Renee and (Jason) Pirtle of Richmond, KY

  • One granddaughter: Kylie Pirtle of Richmond, KY

  • One brother: Bekham and (Janet) Williams of Kings Mountain, KY
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Rebecca Williams: and five brothers: Creech, Hymon, Lester, Edward and Benny Williams.
