LWC women's soccer faces OK Wesleyan in NAIA Opening Round

COLUMBIA, Ky. - The Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team travels to Oklahoma Wesleyan Saturday for the NAIA National Championship Opening Round at the OKWU Soccer Complex at 3pmCT.

The Blue Raiders (10-5-3) won their fifth consecutive Mid-South Conference Tournament defeating Cumberland (TN) on November 10, 2017, 1-0. Amara Safuan scored the lone goal for the Blue Raiders in the 77th minute. Safaun blasted a shot from 30 yards away to beat the Phoenix goalkeeper. Lindsey Wilson did not allow a goal in three MSC Tournament games.

Lindsey Wilson is making its 19th all-time appearance in the national tournament and holds an all-time record of 41-14-3. The Blue Raiders are making their 17th-consecutive appearance in the national tournament.

Oklahoma Wesleyan (19-1-1) defeated Kansas Wesleyan 4-0 in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Final. Marjolen Nekesa scored two goals while Kaja Cremin and Taylor Gross each added a goal.

The Eagles are making their first-ever national tournament appearance.

Saturday's matchup is the first between the two programs.
