Mike Barbee, 57, Taylor Co./Adair Co. native (1959-2017)

He was formerly employed by Fruit of the Loom. He was a member of a large, highly regarded South Central KY family. He grew up in Adair County, KY, the son of the late Addie Taylor Barbee - who absolutely adored him - and his late father, Bardin Barbee. His wife, Kim Perkins Barbee, survives. He leaves seven direct living descendants, close family in Adair and Taylor Counties and elsewhere across the U.S. and a special family member, his fur-baby, Roscoe P. Coltrane Barbee.

Mike Barbee, 57, of Campbellsville, KY, died Friday, November 10, 2017 at 1:27pmET, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY, after an illness.

Funeral services will be at 10amCT/11amET, Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Steve Willis and Bro. Lewis Haynes officiating. Burial will be in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be 3pm-5pmCT/4pm-6pmCT, Monday, November 13, 2017 at the funeral home.



Mike Barbee, 57, Taylor Co./Adair Co. native (1959-2017)


He was born December 30, 1959, in Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late Bardin & Addie Taylor Barbee. He died Friday, November 10, 2017, in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, at the age of 57 year, 10 months, and 11 days.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers; James and Bill Taylor.

He was formerly employed by Fruit of the Loom.

Survivors include:
  • His wife: Kim Perkins Barbee of Campbellsville, KY

  • One son: Adam (Alyssa) Barbee of Mason City, Iowa

  • One daughter: Lindsey Barbee of Campbellsville, KY

  • Five grandchildren: Jaden, Layla and Jayla Barbee all of Campbellsville, KY; and Amelia and Harper Barbee of Mason City, Iowa

  • His mother-in-law: Ludora Perkins of Knifley, KY

  • Sisters-in-law: Jennifer Perkins (Gretchen) of Berea, KY; Edwina Gonzalez of Carmel-by-the Sea, CA; Lana (Paul) Poppe of Box Elder, SD

  • His fur-baby: Roscoe P. Coltrane Barbee

  • A host of other relatives and friends
