Clinton County, KY, Deputy Jailer charged with arson Deputy Jailer is believed to have intentionally started a fire in a storage closet inside the jail in Albany, KY, which was occupied by 19 inmates at the. He was arrested at the jail and was lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail in Columbia. Clinton County inmates were transferred to Pulaski County and Russell County jails. Detective Kenny Brown, KSP Arson Investigator Alex Wesley and State Fire Marshal's office is investigating. Note: Charges/allegations are not a finding of guilt. An individual charged by law enforcement is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding. By TFC William R. Gregory, Public Information Officer Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY Columbia, KY (Tue 7 Nov 2017) - 31-year old Adam L. Smith, of Albany, KY, was arrested today at 1:18pmCT, at the Albany Police Department and charged with 1 count of Arson, 1st Degree and 20 counts of Wanton Endangerment, 1st Degree. Smith, a Clinton County Deputy Jailer, is believed to have intentionally started a fire in a storage closet inside the jail that was occupied by 19 inmates and 1 other deputy jailer. No one was injured and the inmates were evacuated and moved to Russell and Pulaski County jails. State and local fire officials stated that the entire jail suffered extreme smoke damage. Smith was lodged in the Adair County Jail. Detective Kenny Brown, Arson Investigator Alex Wesley and the State Fire Marshal's office are investigating. Albany Fire Department responded to the fire.
