Donnie J. Wheeler, 62, Adair County, KY (1955-2017)

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and attended the Emory Chapel United Methodist Church. Donnie was a farmer and former oil well driller and well serviceman for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding four wheelers and most of all, his family and friends. He was a member of a large, highly regarded South Adair County, KY family. He was the son of the late Jay & Ida Mae Loy Wheeler. He leaves five direct living descendant, and seven sisters and special friends and relatives to carry on his legacy.

Donnie J. Wheeler, age 52 years, departed this life on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at his home in the Chance Community of Adair County.

The funeral service for Donnie J. Wheeler, will be Sunday, October 29, 2017 at 3pmCT, at the Emory Chapel United Methodist Church, 1830 Hwy 1952 Road, Chance community, Columbia, KY, with burial to follow in the Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia. Dr. Michelle McHam Perry and Larry Turner will be officiating. Visitation will be after 1pmCT at the church.

Donnie J. Wheeler, the son of the late Jay & Ida Mae Loy Wheeler. He was born Monday, May 2, 1955 in Columbia, Adair County, KY, and departed this life on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at his home in the Chance Community of Adair County. He was 62 years, five months and 25 days of age.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and attended the Emory Chapel United Methodist Church. Donnie was a farmer and former oil well driller and well serviceman for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding four wheelers and most of all, his family and friends.

Survivors include:
  • A daughter: Melissa Patrick and husband Jeff of Crossville, TN

  • Seven sisters: Jeannie (Kerry) Cox of Mannsville, KY; Linda Hendrickson and husband J.W., Connie Wheeler, Phyllis McHam & spouse Jerry Kearney, Patricia Wheeler, Diane Hatcher and husband Doug and Sandy Wheeler all of Columbia, KY

  • Four grandchildren: Blaine and Colby Pennington, and Ambree and Brayden Patrick

  • His special friends: Herbert and Charlene Turner of Chance, KY

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
Memorials are suggested to the Joy Ministries Food Pantry and may be made at the funeral home or at the church on Sunday.
