Lewell W. Wilson, 80, Russell Springs, KY (1937-2017)

He was a retired chemist at Morton International Co. and a member of Russell Springs United Methodist Church. He was a member of a leading Russell County, KY family, the son of the late Orvis & Belva Meece Wilson. His wife, Joy Stephens Wilson, survives. He leaves five direct and 12 step living descendants.

Lewell W. Wilson, 80, of Russell Springs, KY, died Thursday, October 26, 2017 at the Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville, KY.

Funeral service for Lewell Wilson will be 4pmCT, Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the Russell Springs United Methodist Church, 226 Jamestown Street, Russell Spirngs, KY, with Bro. Timo Karvonen, Bro. Jim Kingry, and Bro. Dennis Price officiating. Visitation will be after 10amCT, Saturday at the church. Interment in the Union Cemetery. Special Music will be rendered by Dean & Sheila McKinley, grandchildren. Active Pallbearers: Reggie Roy, Matt Gosser, Darrin Edwards Brandon Selby, Jack Wayne Stephens, Gary Copley, and James Grimes. Honorary pallbearers: Rosian Medaris Sunday School Class and workers at God's Food Pantry.

He was born March 23, 1937 in Russell County, KY. He was the son of the late Orvis & Belva Meece Wilson. He died Thursday, October 26, 2017, in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, at the age of 80 years, seven months, and three days.

Lewell was a retired chemist at Morton International Co. and a member of Russell Springs United Methodist Church.

Survivors include:
  • His wife: Joy Stephens Wilson, Russell Springs, KY

  • Two sons: Gregory Carlton Wilson, Ohio; and Joey (Denise) Wilson, Ohio

  • Three step daughters: Jennifer Upchurch (Darrin) Edwards, Lisa Joy (Matthew) Gosser, and Sherry Grider (Brandon) Selby, all of Russell Springs, KY

  • Two grandchildren: Rachel Wilson, and Victoria Wilson

  • Nine step grandchildren: Mills Clark, Berkeley Clark, Lexie Edwards, Maxon Gosser, Mayes Gosser, Katelyn Gosser, Ella Robertson, Emery Kate Robertson, Grider Selby

  • One sister: Loureda Roy, Russell Springs, KY
The family suggest memorials be made to God's Food Pantry. These can be made at the church.
