Jerry (Buck) Nelson Compton, 71, Metcalfe Co., KY (1946-2017)

Jerry was active in his community serving on the Metcalfe County Fair Board, volunteer for the Edmonton Fire Department, Metcalfe Co Rescue Squad, and coach for girls slow pitch softball at Bowling Community Park, formerly Marc Park. Jerry was well known for his skill as a farrier and storyteller. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was the son of the late Rufus & Rosa Clemmons Compton. His wife, Cathy Marie Moss Compton, survives. He leaves 12 direct and two step living descendants.

Jerry "Buck" Nelson Compton age 71 of Edmonton passed from this life on October 25, 2017 at University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, KY.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, October 29, at 2:00pm at Butler Funeral Home, 201 East Street, Edmonton, KY, with burial in the Moore Cemetery, Subtle, Metcalfe County, KY. Visitation will be on Saturday from 5pmCT until 8pmCT and on Sunday from 9amCT, until time of service.



Jerry (Buck) Nelson Compton, 71, Metcalfe Co., KY (1946-2017)


He was the son of the late Rufus & Rosa Clemmons Compton. He was born April 14, 1946. He died October 25, 2017 in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, at the age of 71 years, six months, and 11 days.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Cathy Marie Moss Compton, and the following:
  • Five children: Teresa (David) Gillentine Glasgow, KY; Greg (Trudi) Compton Scottsville, KY; Tracy (Tonya Emmert-fiance) Compton, Chris (Shannon) Compton, Brittany Compton, all of Edmonton, KY

  • One sister: Ruby Harper, Edmonton, KY

  • Three grandsons: Jerry (Alexandria) Ward of Glasgow, KY; and Matthew & Hunter Compton, Edmonton, KY

  • Four granddaughters, Kristen, Kandace, Becka Mae Compton all of Edmonton, KY; and Cora Compton of Scottsville, KY

  • Two step grandsons: Coe & Cooper Campbell of Scottsville, KY

  • Several nieces and nephews
Beside his parents he was preceded in death by one brother Earl "Buddy" Compton, and brother in law Donald Harper of Chicago, IL.
