CU to host events on 'The Day That Changed the World' By KayCee Wilhelm, student news writer, Office of University Communications CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- Campbellsville University will celebrate 500 years of the Protestant Reformation Thursday through Friday, Oct. 26-27 and Monday through Tuesday, Oct. 30-31. Times vary, all Eastern times, so the number for more information is below. Dr. Joe Early Jr., associate professor of church history and theology at Campbellsville University, said, "Reformation Day is the day that would eventually give rise to all Protestant denominations and practices we enjoy such as priesthood of all believers, justification by faith, and that clergy could be married." "It's the day that Martin Luther began paving the way for the birth of all Protestant churches," he said. Thursday, Friday, and Monday, Oct. 26, 27, and 30, in Ransdell Chapel, 401 N. Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville, there will be 20-minute talks about Reformation 500 in Sola. They begin at 12noonET. Tuesday, Oct. 31, is packed with events, all taking place in the Banquet Hall at 110 University Drive, Campbellsville, Ky. From 9am to 9:15amET, Early will lecture on "State of Christianity that Led Luther to Action." From 9:15am until 11amET, the movie "Luther" will be shown. Dr. Wesley Roberts, professor of music at Campbellsville University, will talk about and perform "Luther and Music" from 11am to 11:50amET. Lunch will be at 12noonET, and the movie will continue to play during the meal which is $5 for the public. Early will lecture again on the "Theology of Luther" from 12:30pm until 12:45pmET. "Luther," the movie, will continue from 12:45pm until 1:45pmET. Following the movie, Early will lecture on "Luther's Legacy" and take questions from 1:45pmET until 2pmET.
