Galena Redmon Rooks, 98, Adair County, KY (1919-2017)

She was member of the Philadelphia Church of God and a homemaker. She was the matriarch of a very large, respected East Adair County, KY, family. She was the daughter of the late Reason David & Martha Jane Judd Redmon, and the widow of Willie Rooks. She leaves 44 direct and 20 step living descendants.

Galena Rooks, 98 years, of the Allen Schoolhouse Community of Adair County, KY, died Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 9pmCT, at the Signature Health & Rehab at Summit Manor, Columbia KY.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 11amCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Cal Culpepper the officiating clergy. Burial will be in the Lovedale Cemetery, 2950 Allen Schoolhouse Road, Columbia, KY. The family will receive friends on Tuesday October 17, 2017 after 4:30pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.



Galena Redmon Rooks, 98, Adair County, KY (1919-2017)

She was the daughter of the late Reason David & Martha Jane Judd Redmon. She was born January 27, 1919. She died Thursday, October 5, 2017, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 98 years, eight months, and eight days.

She was preceded in death by her husband Willie Rooks, on September 16, 1980, and by one son and one daughter, Arnold Carson Rooks in 1940 and Joyce Foster, and by one sister, Lula Simpson, and two brothers Elmer Redmon and Elvin Redmon. She is survived by:
  • Two sons: Paul Rooks and Roger (Marlene) Rooks, both of Columbia, KY

  • Ten grandchildren

  • Twenty-five great grandchildren

  • Seven great great-grandchildren

  • Six step grandchildren

  • Seven step-great grandchildren

  • Seven step great great-grandchildren

  • One son-in-law: Finis Foster, Columbia, KY

  • Several nieces and nephews

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
Galena was member of the Philadelphia Church of God and a homemaker.
