She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Saloma Baptist Church. She was also a retired Assistant Dietician for the Caverna Hospital.She was born in Green County, KY, and was a resident of Taylor County, KY, at the time of her death. She was a member of a highly regarded family, the daughter of the late Leonard Houk & Veora Pierce Houk and the widow of Joe E. Dennison, here husband of 23 years. She leaves 19 direct living descendants.

Mrs. Barbara Jean Houk Dennison of Campbellsville, KY, departed this life on Friday, September 29, 2017.

The funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Jean Houk Dennison will be conducted at 10amCT, Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at the Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Cave City Cemetery in Barren County. Bro. John Chowning will officiate. Visitation is requested 5pm-8pmCT, Monday, October 2, 2017, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7amCT, Tuesday until time of the funeral service.

Barbara Jean Houk Dennison, Taylor Co., KY (1934-2017)

Mrs. Barbara Jean Houk Dennison was the daughter of the late Leonard Houk & Veora Pierce Houk. She was born on October 11, 1934 in Green County, KY and departed this life on Friday, September 29, 2017. She was 82 years, 11 months, and 18 days of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Saloma Baptist Church. She was also a retired Assistant Dietician for the Caverna Hospital.

She united in marriage to Joe E. Dennison on January 23, 1976 who preceded her in death on August 19, 1999.

Survivors include:
  • Three daughters and two sons-in-law: Deborah and Bill Hall, Joanie Chaney, and Becky and Larry Benningfield all of Campbellsville, KY

  • Two sons and a daughter-in-law: William Joseph Thompson and Timmy and Dianna Thompson all of Campbellsville, KY

  • Nine grandchildren: Bradley Thompson, Zachary Thompson, Jake Thompson, Breanna Thompson, Taylor Thompson, Josh Chaney, Tanner Thompson, Becky Hall, and Larry Benningfield, Jr.

  • Five great-grandchildren: James Marcos Benningfield, Avah Thompson, Eli Thompson, Starlot Thompson, and Jennah Mudd

  • A sister-in-law: Marie Davenport of Greensburg, KY

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
Mrs. Dennison was also preceded in death by a brother: Maxie Houk; and a grandchild: Jonathan Edward Chaney.

The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Pierce Community Cemetery which can be made at the funeral home.
