VFW, Shriners, repurpose generous gift from Kim Keltner

Three wheel chairs donated by widow of Richie Keltner to VFW Post 6097 are being refurbished by the Mark Twain Shriners. First of the three will be presented to Timmy Roy. Other two will also be placed to worthy recipients.

Soon after the death of Richie Keltner, his wife Kim ask the VFW if we could assist in finding a proper place for her to donate his 3 wheel chairs. We accepted the project and picked the chairs up and kept them at our post.



We found a need for one of the chairs here in Adair County and in the end, members of the Mark Twain Shiner's Club are going to refurbish all three chairs and return the one to Timmy Roy here in Adair County and then the other two will be placed where they see the need. All their work is at no charge.

Wheelchairs donated by Kim Keltner will see new service

Pictured with the other two are, from left, JC Denny, Paul Smith, Richard Shivel and Randy Bush of the Mark Twain Shriner's, Paul Smith is also a member of our VFW and got this project worked out. Thanks Kim for the generous donation of the chairs and thanks to the Shriner's for your generous refurbishing work. The first refurbished chair is designated for Timmy Roy; the remaining two will be presented to other worthy recipients. - Joe Hare
