Robert Barkley England, age 78, of Tompkinsville, died Friday, September 22, 2017 at Signature Healthcare in Tompkinsville, KY.

A memorial service will be held at a later date, as cremation was chosen. McMurtrey Funeral Home, 2232 Summer Shade Road, Summer Shade, KY, is assisting the family.


Robert Barkley England, Tompkinsville, KY (1938-2017)

Born August 15, 1938 in Tompkinsville, Monroe County, KY, he was a son of the late Dewey & Ernie Wheat England and the husband of Carolyn Britt England, Tompkinsville, who survives. He died Friday, September 22, 2017, in Tompkinsville, Monroe County, KY, at the age of 78 years, one month, and seven days.

He was a farmer and a logger. He was a member of the Oak Hill Church of Christ.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include:
  • Three sons: Leon (Brenda) England, Roger England, and Jimmy (Stacy) England, all of Tompkinsville, KY

  • Three step daughters: Melissa (Calvin) Jones, Tompkinsville, KY; Pamela (John Pike) Ryherd, Fountain Run, KY; and Sharon (Tony) Emberton, Summer Shade, KY

  • Two step sons: Gregory Walker, Tompkinsville, KY; and Shannon (Crissy) Walker, Bethlehem Community

  • One sister: Jessie Dubree, Persimmon Community
  • One brother: Corbin England, Tompkinsville, KY

  • Nine grandchildren

  • Twelve step grandchildren

  • And several great grandchildren
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Michael Eugene England.
