Vera Delphine Shaw, 77, Burkesville, KY (1939-2017)

She was a former seamstress for Sutton Shirt Corporation. She was a native of Monroe County, KY, a resident of Cumberland County at the time of her death, and her final resting place will be in Monroe County. She was the daughter of the late Cecil Bowman Welch & Emma Copas Welch and the widow of James Russell Shaw. She leaves 26 direct living descendants.

Vera Delphine Shaw, age 77 of Burkesville, Kentucky passed away on Monday, September 18, 2017 at Cumberland County Hospital, Burkesville.

Funeral service will be at 2pmCT, Thursday, September 21, 2017, at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 N Main Street, Burkesville, KY with burial in the Basil Cemetery in Monroe County, KY. Family requested visitation on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 from 4pmCT until 9pmCT, at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home.

She was born on October 08, 1939 in Monroe County, KY to the late Cecil Bowman Welch & Emma Copas Welch. She died Thursday, September 21, 2017, in Burkesville, Cumberland County, KY,at the age of 77 years, 11 months, and 13 days.

She was a former seamstress for Sutton Shirt Corporation.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James Russell Shaw, two infant children, one daughter Tammy Shaw, two brothers, Joe Welch and Jerry Welch, and one sister Betty Moore.

Survivors include:

  • One daughter: Schonia Dicken of Burkesville, KY

  • Two sons: Timothy Shaw(Betty) and Mike Shaw(Carla) all of Albany, KY

  • One brother: James Welch of Cincinnati, Ohio

  • Two sisters: Carolyn Harold of Albany, KY and Gin Evans of Spencer, TN

  • Eleven grandchildren

  • Twelve great grandchildren

  • and a host of other relatives and friends
