COLUMBIA, KY - (Fri 15 Sep 2017) - Lindsey Wilson Athletics has earned NAIA Champions of Character Gold Award for 2016-17 academic year, NAIA officials announced on Friday.

Lindsey Wilson is one of just 14 NAIA institutions to score a perfect 100 on the NAIA Scorecard.

"I'm very proud of our student-athletes and coaches for their hard work in helping us earn this distinction," Lindsey Wilson athletics director Willis Pooler said. "We take seriously our responsibility of being leaders in the classroom, on the field of play and within our community while we represent Lindsey Wilson College.

"I congratulate our student-athletes and coaches on this outstanding achievement."

According to the NAIA, institutions are measured on a demonstrated commitment to Champions of Character and earned points in character training, conduct in competition, academic focus, character recognition and character promotion.

Institutions earned points based on exceptional student-athlete grade point averages and by having minimal to no ejections during competition throughout the course of the academic year.

The NAIA's Champions of Character program represents five core character values, which are Respect, Integrity, Responsibility, Servant Leadership and Sportsmanship.

A total of 183 member institutions in the NAIA earned one of the three distinctions. Lindsey Wilson was one of three institutions from the Mid-South Conference to earn the Gold Award.
