Ruby Jessie, Metcalfe County, KY (1930-2017)

Ruby was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She was the matriarch of an outstanding family with roots centered around Metcalfe, Adair, and Barren Counties, KY, and elsewhere. She was the daughter of the late Arthur & Okla Mae Coomer Bennett, and the widow of James Walter Jessie. She leaves 15 direct living descendants.

Ruby Jessie age 87 of Edmonton, KY, passed away Monday, August 21, 2017 at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, KY.

Funeral services will be held 2pmCT, Thursday, August 24, 2017, at Butler Funeral Home, 201 East Street, Edmonton, KY, with burial in the Willie Jessie Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5pm-8pmCT, Wednesday, August 23, 2017, and after 9amCT, Thursday at the funeral home.

She was the daughter of the late Arthur & Okla Mae Coomer Bennett. She was born May 10, 1930. She died Monday, August 21, 2017, in Glasgow, Barren County, KY, at the age of 87 years, three months, and 11 days.

Ruby was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by:
  • Two sons: Roger (Cathy) Jessie of Edmonton, KY and Jeff Jessie of Charlestown, IN

  • One daughter: Janet Sexton Emmett of Glasgow, KY

  • Two brothers: Lawrence Walton and Odell Bennett both of Edmonton, KY

  • One sister: Ovalee Finn of Edmonton, KY

  • Seven grandchildren: Aaron Jessie of Columbis, IN; Dr. Ashley Matney of Glasgow, KY; Tammy Tarter of Sparksville, KY; Roxanna Herald of Prices Creek, KY; Eric Sexton of Edmonton, KY; Linda Jessie of New Albany, IN; and Crystal Hooper of Paris, KY

  • Seven great grandchildren
Besides her parents, Arthur & Okla Mae Coomer Bennett, she was preceded in death by her husband James Walter Jessie, and a brother Justin Bennett.
