KSP investigating officer involved shooting

MAYFIELD, KY (Thu 18 Aug 2017) - Kentucky State Police are on scene of an officer involved shooting in Mayfield, Kentucky. At 3amCT, KSP Post 1 dispatch received a report of an armed man walking in the 200 block of West Lee Street. Officers from the Mayfield Police Department responded to the area and located a man in a nearby yard believed to be the reported armed person.



Shortly thereafter, shots were fired and the suspect was hit. The suspect was taken by Mayfield-Graves EMS to Jackson Purchase Medical Center. He was then flown by Air Evac to another hospital for continued treatment.

The Kentucky State Police have secured the scene and activated their Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT).

More information concerning the identity and condition of the suspect, along with the identity of the involved officer(s) will be released as the investigation continues.
