Green Countians Leah Hayes and Summer Sebastian provide musical entertainment Click on headline for complete story with photo(s) By George Kolbenschlag News from Homeplace on Green River More than 80 people braved the Friday evening heat at Homeplace on Green River to attend the annual summer board meeting and fish fry. An evening breeze helped with fans kept the heat down in the newly restored 1860s barn, site of the entertainment and board meeting. The business meeting featured landscape architect Darren Henson who talked about the evolving trail system at Homeplace and the adjacent Taylor County/Green River Nature Area. The trails are open, maintained and accessible at the Homeplace trail head. An additional agrarian trail is being constructed. Brother Mike Caldwell, board vice president summarized the significant improvements made and underway at the farm in the past few months. Music was provided by Leah Hayes who sang and was accompanied by Summer Sebastian on guitar. Both are from Green County. The fish fry was provided by Green County grill master Joe Creason and Chris and Marie Anderson provided the Mayfield ice cream. Chris also set up an=nd monitored the sound system. 2017 has brought vast improvements in the buildings and programing at Homeplace and much planning has been done to expand and improve the annual Fall Heritage Festival scheduled for September 9, 2017.
