Russell Springs, KY man injured attempting to avoid collision

Harley-Davidson rider attempting to avoid collision, lays bike down on right shoulder - bike slides approximately 78 feet before coming to rest in parking lot on Russell Road. He was transported to TJ Health/Columbia. CPD Officer Josh Brockman is investigating accident.

On Monday, July 10, 2017, Columbia Police Officers were dispatched to Russell Road to a reported single vehicle collision. Preliminary investigation results indicate that Susan Mack, 54, of Columbia, KY, was traveling west in a 2005 Ford Escape when she attempted a left hand turn into a commercial parking lot.



Mack failed to see a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by 55-year=old Allen Withers of Russell Springs, KY.

In an attempt to avoid collision Withers was forced to lay his bike down on right shoulder of roadway. The bike slid approx 78 ft before coming to rest in parking lot.

CPD Ofc. Josh Brockman is investigating collision and was assisted by Ofc Charles Greer. Withers was transported to TJ Health of Columbia by Adair County EMS<
