Casey Co. gets $1 million grant for equipment to lease to Tarter Funding to purchase equipment and support economic development. Tarter anticipates 50 new full-time jobs in Casey County through use of leased equipment. From Department of Local Government, Commonwealth of Kentucky Sandra Donahoo, Commissioner FRANKFORT, KY (28 Jun 2017) - The Department for Local Government (DLG) approved funding for a $1 million Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) to Casey County for the purchase of equipment to lease to Tarter Farm and Ranch Equipment. "I am pleased these CDBG funds will assist Casey County and the Economic Development Authority of Liberty-Casey County in purchasing equipment to be used for Tarter's production facilities," said DLG Commissioner Sandra Dunahoo. "Tarter has already made commitments to expand their operations and job numbers in Casey County; these project funds help to ensure that much needed resources are made available" Founded in 1945, Tarter Farm and Ranch Equipment manufactures farm gates, corrals, tractor implements, livestock feeders, trailers, fencing supplies, and other farm related equipment. Tarter anticipates the financed equipment will create nearly 50 full-time jobs in Casey County. "I am grateful to DLG for their assistance in securing these block grant funds for Casey County and Tarter Farm and Ranch Equipment," said State Sen. Jimmy Higdon. "We appreciate the commitment Tarter has made and the coordination and efforts made by local officials for business development and job growth." "Any time a business has interest of growing or expanding the number of employees in a community, we always want to be attentive and engaged in the process," said State Rep. Daniel Elliott. "I am thankful for the coordination of DLG, Casey County officials, and Tarter Industries coming together in order to make these resources available to a Kentucky based manufacturer." The CDBG program provides assistance to communities for use in revitalizing neighborhoods, expanding affordable housing and economic opportunities, providing infrastructure and/or improving community facilities and services.
