Green Co. SO, KSP investigating Green County shooting Officers suspect land dispute may have led to incident which led to one man firing handgun into pavement, and other receiving wound from riccocheting round. Alleged shooter arrested. Victim taken to Taylor Regional Hospital, Campbellsville, KY. Note: Charges/allegations are not a finding of guilt. An individual charged by law enforcement is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding. Story by Larry Smith, FM 99.9 the Big Dawg and FM 92.7 the WAVE Based on information from Green County Sheriff's Office, Robby Beard, Sheriff The Green County Sheriff's Office responded to a call on Saturday, June 10, 2017 to 5498 Hwy 566 to a gunshot victim. On arrival, the Sheriffs found Shane Richards suffering a gunshot wound to his arm. At the same time, the officers made contact with the alleged shooter, James Cantrell who stated that the two men had met in the roadway, each in their vehicles, exchanged a few words, and that James Cantrell opened his door, fired a .45 caliber handgun round into the blacktop, which glanced off the roadway and struck Shane Richards in the arm. Shane Richards was transported to Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville for treatment. James Candrell was arrested at the scene and charged with wanton endangerment 1st and Assault 1st. Further investigation revealed possible land dispute triggered the incident. The Kentucky State Police assisted in the action. This story was posted on 2017-06-13 06:00:15
