Big Al Owens in LA for Cubs-Dodgers game Album attached, from the Sportswriter who rose from a little farm at Vester, KY; the small town of Columbia, KY, and the county seat of Cook County, Illinois to a dream job traveling the United States of America with routes which take him to places we'd all like to see, and people we'd all like to meet. Two major bucket list goals remain outstanding: Having a beer with President Obama, and an audience with the Pope. Memorial Day weekend was started with a Major League game at Dodgers Stadium, with his beloved Cubbies facing the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team Columbia native Cy Barger helped launch in Brooklyn, NY. Click on headline for complete album By Big Al Owens, the Big Rig Trucker/MLB Sports correspondent Saturday was a wonderful day for me - a beautiful Los Angeles Memorial Day Weekend Saturday sitting in the stands with my best friend watching may team, the Chicago Cubs play the Los Angeles Dodgers. Watching a major league baseball game on Memorial Day weekend is one of the most patriotic things an American can do. It's hard to think of anything which brings home the feelings of the holiday than when the National Anthem is heard in a great major league baseball park. Not the same as Wrigley - nothing matches that - but that was great. I had front row ticket by 1st base yesterday at the Cubs vs Dodgers game in beautiful Dodgers stadium with my best friend. Eddie Butler signed a ball for me, he is a Cubs starting pitcher, and Kris Bryant signed for my buddy. We had a great time. It was a wonderful day. And I'm the luckiest man on earth, getting paid to do a job I love which lets me see the things I want to see along the way. This story was posted on 2017-05-29 06:16:16
