CHS baseball team is 20th District tournament runners-up
Team drops championship game in action at Adair County High School Baseball Field, Columbia, KY, 0-6 to Marion County High School. Eagles earlier end Taylor County HS season, by 8-7 score.

Campbellsville Independent Schools CIS Campbellsville High School baseball team is this year's 20th District tournament runners-up. CHS took on Taylor County in the first round of the tournament on Friday, May 26, at Adair County High School and won the game by one run. Final score was 8-7.
The Eagles trailed 4-7 in the bottom of the sixth.
CHS sophomore Ryan Kearney led off with a double, and junior Ethan Lay walked. Kearney and Lay then advanced on a wild pitch.
CHS sophomore Lane Bottoms singled to center and Kearney scored. Campbellsville Middle School eighth-grader Kameron Smith pinch ran for Bottoms.
Treyce Mattingly, a sophomore, hit a three-run home run, and that would be enough to win the game.
Campbellsville Middle School eighth-grader Arren Hash picked up the win in relief of junior Ethan Lay and sophomore Ryan Kearney.
Kearney pitched five and a third innings, striking out 12. He also had three hits.
CHS sophomore Jackson Hinton, freshman Noah Hughes and Campbellsville Middle School eighth-grader Arren Hash also had hits.
The loss ends the Taylor County season, and the win advanced CHS to the championship game against Marion County.
The win also advances the CHS team to the fifth region tournament, which begins Monday, May 29.
In the championship game, which was also played on Friday, May 26, CHS battled to the end but couldn't get the win.
Final score was 0-6.
CHS sophomores Treyce Mattingly and Ryan Kearney had the only two hits for the Eagles.
Campbellsville Middle School eighth-grader John Orberson and CHS sophomore Jackson Hinton each pitched three innings for the Eagles.
Campbellsville Middle School eighth-grader Arren Hash and sophomores Treyce Mattingly and Ryan Kearney were named to the all-tournament team.
Campbellsville Middle School eighth-grader John Orberson and sophomores Lane Bottoms and Ryan Kearney were named to the all-season team.
And Kearney received the all-academic team award.

Kirby Smith is the head CHS baseball coach. Assistants are Blake Milby, Zach Lewis, Phil Gowdy and Lynn Kearney.
