Columbia, KY man arrested following car pursuit, foot chase Allegations include driving over 26 mph over or greater than speed limit, several other charges. According to KSP, driver was clocked at 96 mph in a 55 mph zone on KY 61 south of Columbia, and his vehicle struck a State Police car, then wrecked behind a business, and driver fled on foot before police apprehended him. Note - Charges/allegations are not a finding of guilt. An individual charged by law enforcement is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding. Gregory, Public Information Officer KSP Post 15, Columbia, KY COLUMBIA, KY (Mon 22 May 2017) - On Saturday, May 21, 2017, 27-year-old Richard Baldwin, of Columbia, KY was charged with Speeding 26 miles per hour over or greater, DUI 1st Degree (Aggravated Circumstances), Reckless Driving, Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree, Fleeing or Evading Police 2nd Degree, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, Driving on a Suspended License and Assault 3rd Degree (Police). Baldwin was charged following a pursuit that began at approximately 11:02pmCT on US 61, south of Columbia, when Baldwin's Chevy pickup truck was clocked at 96 mph in a 55 mph speed limit. Baldwin's vehicle struck a State Police car as the pursuit continued before Baldwin wrecked behind a local business in the limits of Columbia, fled on foot and was later apprehended after resisting arrest. Baldwin was transported to TJ Sampson Hospital and later transported to UK Medical Center to be treated for injuries sustained in the pursuit and during the altercation. The investigation is ongoing.
