Lorene Terry Sims, formerly of Casey Co., KY (1929-2017)

Mrs. Sims was a former seamstress. She enjoyed collecting dolls and shoes. She was a devout Christian and enjoyed reading her Bible each day. Mrs. Sims was an avid traveler, particularly enjoying taking cruises. She was a native of Casey County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Marion Albert Terry & Clara Bell Terry, and the widow of Samuel Sims. She leaves 23 direct living descendants.

Lorene Terry Sims, of Largo, FL, formerly of Casey Co., KY, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2017, in Largo, FL. She was 87.

Funeral services will be held at 12pmNoonCT/1pmET, Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY, with Bro. Corey Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in the Green River Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be 4pm-7pmCT/5pm-8pmET, on Monday at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.

Born July 19, 1929, in Casey Co., KY, she was a daughter of the late Marion Albert Terry & Clara Bell Terry. She died Thursday, May 18, 2017, in Largo, FL, at the age of 87 years, nine months, and 29 days. Mrs. Sims was a former seamstress. She enjoyed collecting dolls and shoes. She was a devout Christian and enjoyed reading her Bible each day. Mrs. Sims was an avid traveler, particularly enjoying taking cruises.

Survivors include:
  • Her daughter: Peggy (Herb) Thompson of Largo, FL

  • Sons: Dennis (Felicia) Sims of Lexington, KY; and Shawn (Kathy) Sims of Windsor, KY

  • Brother: Roy Terry of Cincinnati, OH

  • Sisters: Pauline Allen of Somerset, KY; and Norma (Vearl) Murphy of Harrison, OH

  • Eight grandchildren

  • Twelve great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Sims, who passed away September 17, 1990; her parents; brothers, Otha, Otis, J.R., Donald, and Junior Terry; and sisters, Rose Terry and Agnes Morgan.
