Avery Helm, 77, Adair County, KY (1939-2017)

He was a highly regarded citizen of Adair County, a farmer, and attended the former Community Church in Columbia, KY. He was the son of the late William Thomas & Esther Keith Helm. His wife, Wanda Wooldridge Helm, survives. He leaves 34 direct living descendants.

Avery Helm, 77 years of Columbia, KY passed away Thursday May 18, 2017 at 7:35pmCT, at the TJ Health Columbia Emergency Room in Columbia, KY after several months illness.

Funeral service is Sunday, May 21, 2017 at 3pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Wayne Keith offiating. Interment will be in the Columbia Cemetery, 315 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY. The family request visiting after 3:30pmCT on Saturday at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.

He was born October 31, 1939 in Columbia, Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late William Thomas & Esther Keith Helm. He died Thursday, May 18, 2017, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 77 years, six months, and 18 days. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Etta Mae Keith Helm on December 29, 1984; by two brothers Edmond Helm and Wayne Helm, by one sister Joan Carter, and by two grandchildren

Mr. Helm is survived by:
  • His wife: Wanda Wooldridge Helm of Russell Springs, KY

  • Three sons survive: Lynn Helm and wife Lucy of Columbia, KY; Darrell Helm and wife Tammy of Breeding, KY; Kelin Helm and wife Peggy of Columbia, KY

  • Two daughters: Della Mae Murrell, who was his caregiver, and husband Junior of Columbia, KY; and Diane Gaskins and husband Ricky of Greensburg, KY

  • Thirteen grandchildren

  • Sixteen great grandchildren

  • And several nieces and nephews
Mr. Helm had attended the former Community Church in Columbia, KY, and was a farmer.
