ACES hosts awards ceremony on last day of school Students' accomplishments are recognized for attendance and academic progressClick on headline for story with photo(s) By Wes Feese Media Relations, Adair County Schools Students at Adair County Elementary School were recognized at an awards ceremony Friday morning, May 19, 2017, in the school's gymnasium, a last-day-of-school treat to reward students for their high attendance and academic progress. "It's always exciting to recognize student achievement," says ACES Principal Steve Burton. "We've been fortunate that our students have excelled all year long - in academics, in leadership, in anything we've asked them to do. It's great to see all the smiles on their faces when they're recognized for their work." Awards were given out for perfect attendance, Accelerated Math, and Accelerated Reading. Among the two dozen students who led their respective homerooms for Accelerated Math objectives, special recognition was given to fifth grader Ellie Cheatham, who set a new school record this year with more than 300 objectives completed. Third grader Alexa Castrejon won $25 from the Adair County Education Association for having perfect attendance. Two more awards for perfect attendance - these donated by Casey Creek Masonic Lodge No. 536 - were bicycles for a girl and boy who did not miss a day of school this year. Those went to Ben Kingrey and Arraya Phelps. Congratulations to all the award winners and the entire Adair County School District salutes them for their hard work. - WES FEESE This story was posted on 2017-05-19 10:42:14
