Isiah (Shorty) Rodgers, 87, Adair County, KY (1929-2017)

He was member of Tarter's Chapel United Methodist Church and a farmer. He was a member of a respected northwest Adair County, KY family. He was the son on the late Pierce & Lora Posey Rodgers.

Isiah "Shorty" Rodgers, 87, of the Portland Community of Adair County, died Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 2:05pmCT, at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville, KY.

Funeral service will be Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 2pmCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Bobby Withers and Bro. Darrell Coffey officiating. Burial in Tarter's Chapel Cemetery. Visitation after 10amCT, Thursday, at the funeral home.



Casket Bearers: Colby Smith, Timmy Young, Andrew Coffey, Jason Akers, Daniel Smith, and Pete Beard.


Isiah (Shorty) Rodgers, 87, Adair County, KY (1929-2017)


He was born August 31, 1929, in Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late Pierce & Lora Posey Rodgers. He died Tuesday, May 9, 2017, in Campbellsville, Taylor County, KY, at the age of 87 years, eight months, and nine days.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Augusta "Cricket" Rodgers and his sister, Zelphar Smith. Shorty was a member of Tarter's Chapel United Methodist Church and a farmer. Survivors include:
  • His brother: Jimmy Rodgers of Portland, KY

  • Two nephews: Louis (Rhonda) Smith, Charles (Vickie) Smith

  • One niece: Zenda (James) Pepper

  • One great-nephew: Daniel (Jeannie) Smith

  • Four great-nieces: Laura (Jason) Akers, Beth (Micah) Little, Lisa Smith, Kristina (Drew) Stearns

  • Two great-great nephews: Isaac and Oakley

  • Two great-great nieces: Kylee and Alivia
