Polly (Dolly) Mae Chadwell Black, Windsor, KY (1936-2017)

She married Junior "Lewis" Black on January 15, 1955 and they spent most of their married life near Franklin, IN. She worked at several jobs, retiring as a nurse's aid from Johnson County Memorial Hospital in Franklin, IN. In 2003, she and Lewis retired to Windsor, KY. She leaves 20 direct living descendants.

Polly "Dolly" Mae (Chadwell) Black, 81, of Windsor, KY, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Casey County Hospital, Liberty, KY.

The funeral service will be held at 10amCT/11amET, on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY, with Bro. Johnny Maupin officiating. Burial will follow in South Fork Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5pm-8pmCT/6pm-9pmET, on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at the funeral home.



Pallbearers will be Jeremy Black, Jay Brigman, Brian Black, Cory Via and Mike Harmon.


Polly (Dolly) Mae Chadwell Black, Windsor, KY (1936-2017)


Born at home in Casey County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Cleo Chadwell & Polly Ellen Chadwell Roberts. She celebrated her birthday on April 2, 1936. She died Sunday, May 7, 2017, in Liberty, Casey County, KY, at the age of 81 years, one month, and five days.

She married Junior "Lewis" Black on January 15, 1955 and they spent most of their married life near Franklin, IN. She worked at several jobs, retiring as a nurse's aid from Johnson County Memorial Hospital in Franklin, Indiana. In 2003, she and Lewis retired to Windsor, Kentucky.

She is survived by her husband, Lewis Black, who currently resides at Liberty Care Center in Liberty, KY, and the following:
  • Two sons> Keith (and Sandy) Black of Bloomington, IN and Kenneth (and Debbie) Black of Lexington, SC

  • One daughter: Linda Owens of Windsor, KY

  • Six grandchildren: Susie (and Andy) Woomer, Brian Black, Jeremy (and Ashlyn) Black, Angelia Butler, Kristina (and Cory) Via and Amanda (and Jay) Brigman

  • Eleven great-grandchildren

  • Four sisters: Doris Edens of Bethelridge, KY; Mary Ballard of Lexington, KY; June (and Andy) Forbes of Nicholasville, KY; and Sue Hensley of Liberty, KY

  • Three brothers: Jack Chadwell of Windsor, KY; Garfield Chadwell of Liberty, KY; and Bill (and Sue) Chadwell of Franklin, IN

  • And many nieces and nephews
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by a brother, Charles Chadwell; and a grandson, Kristopher Black.
