Gladys Rachel Derringer, 74, Casey County, KY (1942-2017)

Gladys was a former employee of Union Underwear, Gladys loved gardening and working in her flower beds, was a member of Carr's Chapel First Church of God, she was a former square dancer with the Casey County Swingers, former member of the D.A.V. Auxiliary and a former member of the Casey County Hospital Auxiliary and a Mother figure to most of her Nieces and Nephews.

Gladys Rachel Derringer, age 74, of Liberty, KY passed away on Monday May 1, 2017 at the Casey County Hospital, Liberty.

Funeral Services will be held at 9:30amCT/10:30amET, Thursday May 4, 2017 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel, 142 KY Hwy 49, Liberty, KY, with Bro. Marshall Malone and Bro. David Holt officiating. Burial will be in the Wilson Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4pm-8pmCT/5pm-9pmET, Wednesday May 3, 2017 and after 7amCT/8amET on Thursday May 4, 2017 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.

She was born in Liberty, KY on August 7, 1942. She was a daughter of the late Luther & Ova Sharp Phelps. She died Monday, May 1, 2017, in Liberty, Casey County, KY, at the age of 74 years, eight months, and 21 days.

Gladys was a former employee of Union Underwear, Gladys loved gardening and working in her flower beds, was a member of Carr's Chapel First Church of God, she was a former square dancer with the Casey County Swingers, former member of the D.A.V. Auxiliary and a former member of the Casey County Hospital Auxiliary and a Mother figure to most of her Nieces and Nephews.

Survivors include:
  • Her loving husband: Charles Derringer whom she married on August 2, 1978

  • One step son: Timothy Lee Derringer of Des Moines, Iowa

  • One brother: Shelby Phelps of Dunnville, KY.
Preceding her in death besides her parents were three sisters' Barbara Rodgers, Juanita Phelps and Betty Jean Buck' and six brothers, Coy, Dee, Donald, Elbert, Eli and Marvin Phelps.
