COLUMBIA, KY - The No. 6-ranked Lindsey Wilson softball team wrapped up its regular season with an 8-0 victory in six innings over Bryan (TN) on Senior Day Fri 21 Apr 2017 at Marilyn D. Sparks Park.




The Blue Raiders (37-9) out-hit the Lions 13-1 in the game. Casey Bryan earned the victory allowing just one hit and striking out 11. Five Lindsey Wilson players recorded at least two hits. Lauren Lett led the way with three hits while Amber Foukes recorded two hits and drove in three runs.

Lindsey Wilson had a promising start in the first inning when the first three batters of the inning reached. After Cassie Kooker was hit by a pitch, back-to-back walks from Callum Pilgrim and Sydney Fourman loaded the bases. Madison Owens was able to get out of the bases loaded jam retiring the next three batters.

The Blue Raiders got on the board first in the third inning. Pilgrim led off the inning with a single to left field then advanced to second on a stolen base. Foukes drove in Pilgrim with a double to deep-left field to give Lindsey Wilson a 1-0 lead.

Aubrie Osborne got the Lions their first hit in the fourth inning with two outs. Prior to the hit, Bryan had retired 11 consecutive batters striking out seven of them.

Amy Rogers drove in a run in the fifth inning on a double to increase the lead to 2-0. Bailey Mize hit a bases-clearing double giving the Blue Raiders a 4-0 lead. Back-to-back doubles by Abby Whelan and Lett increased the lead to 5-0 in the sixth inning. Foukes drove in two runs with a single to left field and Amy Rogers ended the game with an RBI single to induce the run-rule.

Bryan (21-4) retired the last seven Lions batters recording four strikeouts and striking out the side in the fifth inning. Bryan recorded her 19th complete game of the season and her eighth shutout.

Prior to the game seniors Bryan and Mize were honored in Senior Day activities. The duo ranks in the top-10 in multiple statistical categories in the program including wins and RBIs.
