Rev. Charles Tone, 80, Adair Co., KY/Cincinnati, Ohio native (1937-2017)

He was a beloved and inspirational Adair Countian, a member of a highly regarded family. Rev. Tone was pastor at Glens Fork Church of the Nazarene and at Lands Chapel and Pine Grove Methodist Churches in Clinton County, KY. He was a native of Ohio, the son of the late August Adolph & Clara Welsh Tone. His wife, Jane Ware Tone, survives. He leaves nine direct living descendants. His final resting place will be in his adopted Adair County, at Cane Valley Cemetery.

Rev. Charles R. Tone age 80 years of Columbia, KY passed away Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 11:45amCT, at Signature Health at Summit Manor.

Funeral service Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 1pmCT at Trinity United Methodist Church, 2418 Campbellsville Road, Columbia, KY. Interment will be in Cane Valley Cemetery, 83 Cane Valley Cemetery Road, Cane Valley, KY. Visitation after 4pmCT, Tuesday, April 18, 2017 and after 6amCT, Wednesday until 11:30amCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, after 12pmCTnoon Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church.



Rev. Charles Tone, 80, Adair Co., KY/Cincinnati, Ohio native (1937-2017)


He was born on March 4, 1937 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was the son of the late August Adolph & Clara Welsh Tone. He died Saturday, April 15, 2017, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 80 years, one month, and 11 days.

He was preceded in death by six brothers Paul Tone, Albert Tone, Joe Tone, George Tone, Herb Tone & Tom Tone. Survived by:
  • His wife: Jane Ware Tone of Columbia, KY

  • One daughter: Robin (Donnie) Cornelison of Columbia, KY

  • Three sisters: Ruth Huff, Rosemary Leist & Janet Precht all of Cincinnati, Ohio.

  • Three grandchildren: Ronnie (Whitney) Cornelison, Cameron (Lauren) Cornelison & Candace (Adam) Sneed

  • Six great grandchildren: Several nieces, nephews

  • A host of other relatives and friends
Rev. Tone was retired ordained pastor in the Nazarene Church & United Methodist Church, locally had pastored at the Glensfork Nazarene Church in Adair County & in Clinton County at Lands Chapel & Pine Grove United Methodist Church.
