Monnie Buttram Whittle, Russell Co., KY/Scott Co., TN native (1941-2017)

She was the matriarch of a large, highly regarded family and leaves 31 direct living descendants. She was the daughter of the late Archie & Alta Griffin Buttram, and the widow of Leslie Earl "Tuger Bill" Whittle, her husband of a remarkable 59 years, who preceded her in death just slightly over one year ago.

Monnie Buttram Whittle, 75, of Russell Springs, KY died Friday, April 14, 2017 at her home.

Funeral service for Monnie Whittle will be 1pmCT, Thursday, April 20, 2017 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 N Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. David Coffey officiating. Visitation will be 5pm-8pmCT, Wednesday, April 19, 2017, and after 8amCT, Thursday. Interment will be in the McBeath Cemetery, Russell County, KY. Special will be rendered by Doyle & Brenda Wilson Pallbearers: Chad Whittle, Aaron Whittle, Jonathan Hiles, Gary Lee Whittle, Nicholas Whittle, and Evan Whittle.

She was born December 22, 1941 in Oneida, Scott County, TN. She was the daughter of the late Archie & Alta Griffin Buttram. She died Friday, April 14, 2017, in Russell Springs, Russell County, KY, at the age of 75 years, three months, and 23 days.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Earl "Tuger Bill" Whittle who died on December 27, 2015.

Survivors are:
  • Five children: James (Sylvia) Whittle, Phoenix, AZ; Gary (Teresa) Whittle, Walton, KY; Carol (Alfred) Hiles, Walton, KY; David (Linda) Whittle, Crittenden, KY; Darrell Whittle, Russell Springs, KY

  • Thirteen grandchildren

  • Thirteen great grandchildren
