William Fred (J.R.) Simpson, Jr., 72, Taylor Co., KY/Adair native (1944-2017)

Mr. Simpson was a dairy farmer and the owner and operator of Simpson Fence Company. He professed faith in Christ, and enjoyed being outdoors hunting and working in God's creation. He was the son of the late William Fred, Sr. & Edith Mae (Ward) Simpson. His wife, Joyce Dile Simpson, survives. He leaves seven direct living descendants.

Mr. William Fred "J.R." Simpson, Jr. of Campbellsville passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at his home after an illness.

There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Simpson on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 1pmCT/2pmET in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Road, Campbellsville, KY. Interment will be in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 700 Old U.S. 68, Campbellsville, KY, at a later date. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, April 8, 2017, after 11amCT/12pmNoonET. until time for the service.



Mr. William Fred "J.R." Simpson, Jr., Taylor Co., KY/Adair Co. native (1944-2017)

Born in Adair County, KY, December 09, 1944, he was the son of the late William Fred, Sr. & Edith Mae (Ward) Simpson. He died Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at the age of 72 years, 3 months, and 26 days of age. Mr. Simpson was a dairy farmer and the owner and operator of Simpson Fence Company. He professed faith in Christ, and enjoyed being outdoors hunting and working in God's creation.

He leaves to mourn his passing:

  • His wife: Joyce (Dile) Simpson of Campbellsville, KY

  • Two daughters: Carol Jean Brown and Bridgette Denise Jones, both of Campbellsville, KY

  • Two sisters: Barbara Stewart and husband Mark Maher of Tennessee; and Faye Faulkner and husband Boogie of Campbellsville, KY

  • A close brother-in-law: James "Logan" Dile of Campbellsville, KY

  • Three grandchildren

  • Four great-grandchildren

  • And a host of other family and friends.
He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Joyce Elaine Simpson, and a granddaughter, Tara Simpson Lamer.

Memorials in the form of donations to the American Heart Association are welcome. Those can be made in person at the funeral home.
