LWC softball sweeps 4 game series with Shawnee State No. 11 Lindsey Wilson softball sweeps weekend series against Shawnee State with two wins on Saturday, 4-2 and 7-0 Next - Lindsey Wilson Softball at Cumberlands, 6178 College Street (campus, not venue), Williamsburg, KY, doubleheader, first game at 3pmCT/4pm3T, Friday, April 7, 2017, and doubleheader, first game at 12pmCT/1pmET, Saturday, April 8, 2017. By Anthony Latessa News from Lindsey Wilson College COLUMBIA, KY - (Sat 01 Apr 2017) - The No. 11-ranked Lindsey Wilson softball team completed a four game Mid-South Conference sweep of Shawnee State (Ohio) on Saturday at Lindsey Wilson Park winning 4-2, 7-0. The Blue Raiders (26-7, 12-0 MSC) hit four home runs today and hit 10 over the four game series. Lindsey Wilson has now won 15 consecutive games. GAME 1 - Lindsey Wilson 4, Shawnee State 2 The Bears (12-13, 6-10 MSC) struck first in their half of the second inning. After a Mackenzie Riley two-out single, Katie Wolesefer doubled to left field scoring Riley to give Shawnee State a 1-0 lead. The Blue Raiders answered back with a solo home run from Amy Rogers in the bottom of the second to tie the game 1-1. Callum Pilgrim led off the bottom of the third inning with a double down the left field line. Pilgrim would reach third on a ground out then come around to on a wild throw by the first baseman to give Lindsey Wilson a 2-1 lead. Shawnee State tied the game in the top of the fourth on solo home run by Kayla Koch. After a leadoff single in the bottom of the fourth by Samantha Luckett, Bailey Mize hit a two-run home run to give the Blue Raiders a 4-2 lead. Lindsey Wilson had a chance to add on to the lead in the fourth with bases loaded and no outs but would strand the bases loaded. Casey Bryan retired nine of the last 11 batters striking out four of them. Bryan (13-3) pitched her 14th complete game of the season while giving up two earned runs on four hits and striking out 10. Pilgrim, Luckett and Mize each recorded two hits in the game. GAME 2 - Lindsey Wilson 7, Shawnee State 0 After a Victoria Bevington single and a Marisa Brown walk the Bears had runners on first and second with one out. Brown advanced to second on a fielder's choice, Madi Phillips came into run for Brown. Tara Duncan singled to center field and Phillips was thrown out at home by Pilgrim to end the inning. Amber Foukes hit a solo home run to give Lindsey Wilson a 1-0 lead. Foukes has now hit three home runs in her last three games. Cassie Kooker led off the fifth inning with a double to deep left-center field. Pilgrim would then drive in Kooker with a double to left field to increase the lead to 2-0. After Sydney Fourman was hit by a pitch and Foukes flied out Rogers reached on a fielder's choice. With two outs Rogers attempted to steal second and ended up getting caught in a rundown. During the ensuing rundown it allowed Pilgrim to steal home and Rogers was able to get back to first base safely to give Lindsey Wilson a 3-0 lead. The Blue Raiders pulled away in the sixth inning scoring four runs. Lauren Lett doubled to drive in the first run of the inning. Pilgrim hit a sacrifice fly to score the second run of the inning and Fourman hit a two-run home run to give Lindsey Wilson a 7-0 lead. Taylor Slade retired the side in the seventh to pick up the victory. Slade (8-2) recorded her sixth complete game and fifth shutout of the season giving up seven hits and striking out 5.
