Ruth Winifred Blackwell, Adair Co., KY/Cumberland Co. native (1925-2017)

Mrs. Ruth Winifred Blackwell was a member of the Mount Moriah Methodist Church in Cumberland Co., KY; and was employed by Fruit of Loom in Campbellsville, KY, for several years and was a homemaker. She was the matriarch of a large, respected family, the daughter of the late Charlie & Mattie R. Allen Williams and the widow of Robert Blackwell, Sr.

Ruth Winifred Blackwell, 91 years of the Greensburg Road, Columbia, KY passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 9:50amCat, at her home after several months illness.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 1pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY. Interment will be in the Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY. Visitation will begin on Monday from 4pmCT until 8pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.



Mrs. Blackwell was a member of the Mount Moriah Methodist Church in Cumberland Co. Kentucky and was employed by Fruit of Loom in Campbellsville for several years and was a homemaker.

She was born Friday, October 2, 1925 in Cumberland County, KY. She was the daughter of the late: Charlie & Mattie R. Allen Williams. She died Saturday, March 25, 2017, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 91 years, five months, and 23 days.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Blackwell Sr. in 1972 and by one son Robert Blackwell Jr.

Mrs. Blackwell is survived by:
  • Ten children; Judy Lewis and husband James of Bardstown, KY; Ruth Ann Blackwell of Campbellsville, KY; Rannie Blackwell of Columbia, KY; Marilyn Blackwell of Louisville, KY; Sharon B. Brown of Prospect, KY; Charlie F. Blackwell and wife Deborah of Louisville, KY; Ronnie Blackwell of Columbia, KY; Dale Blackwell of Columbia, KY; Keith Blackwell of Louisville, KY; and Kelly Blackwell and wife Beth of Louisville, KY

  • One sister: Lucille Graves of Glensfork, KY

  • Several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren

  • Several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends
