Rollin Knifley: Differs with writer on largest military installation Rollin Knifley writes: I think Mr. Halsey is mistaken about Ft Knox being the largest military installation in the United States. At 109,000 acres, it is the largest in KY. Ft Campbell has about 102,000 acres, but most of that is actually in Tennessee. White Sands Missile Range is the largest military installation in the US at just under 3200 square miles.
