Nell Young Mayes, 85, Metcalfe County, KY (1931-2017)

She was a native of Edmonton, KY, and a resident of Lone Star Ridge a the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Rissie Ellen Froedge & Hugh Carlos Young and the widow of Roy Clemons Mayes. She leaves 19 direct living descendants.She was a housewife and of the Baptist faith.

Nell Young Mayes, age 85, of the Lone Star Ridge community of Metcalfe County, died February 28, 2017, at her residence.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 11amCT, at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, 2232 Summer Shade Road, Summer Shade, KY, with Brother Gary Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in the Mayes Family Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, March 3, 2017 from 12pmNoonCT-8pmCT, and on Saturday after 8amCT until time of services.

Born May 10, 1931 in Edmonton, Metcalfe County, KY, she was a daughter of the late Rissie Ellen Froedge & Hugh Carlos Young. She died Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at the age of 85 years, nine months, and 18 days.

She was the widow of the late Roy Clemons Mayes.

She was a housewife and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include:
  • Two daughters: Carletta (Darrell) Price, Woodburn and Libby (Jerry) Blythe, Edmonton, KY

  • Five grandchildren: Angelia Blythe, Jeff (Ashley) Blythe, Chris (Courtney) Price, Julie (Kenny) Shirley, and Kelli (Gabe) Brown

  • Twelve great-grandchildren: Summer Shirley, Hannah Brown, Wyatt Blythe, Carson Brown, Julya Shirley, Anna Grace Blythe, Lily Kate Blythe, J R Brown, Tinsley Price, Lucy Blythe, Max Price, and Beau Blythe
