By Anthony Latessa News from Lindsey Wilson College COLUMBIA, Ky. - The No. 8-ranked Lindsey Wilson softball team hosts Taylor (IN) in its home opener Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at 12pmCT at Lindsey Wilson Park, 928 Russell Road, Columbia, KY. On Sunday, February 26, 2017, the Blue Raiders welcome Union (KY) to Lindsey Wilson Park for a doubleheader beginning at 1pmCT. Lindsey Wilson (6-2) swept a double header against Union (2-7) on Tuesday 6-1 and 10-1 in five innings. Amanda McIver led the way for Lindsey Wilson going 4-for-7 on the day driving in three runs. Casey Bryan pitched a complete game allowing one run on six hits and striking out 11. Abby Whelan picked up the victory in game two pitching a complete game giving up five hits and allowing one unearned run. Taylor (4-1) defeated Indiana Southeast 7-4 and 5-0 on Monday. Courtney Moriarty gave Taylor the lead in the third inning in game one with a solo home run. Hannah Castor went 3-for-4 in the first game driving in four runs. In game two Maddie Cornell gave up just three hits in the complete game shutout. Saturday is the sixth meeting between the two teams. Lindsey Wilson holds a 5-0 advantage in the series. The two teams last met on February 15, 2013 with the Blue Raiders picking up an 8-0 victory. The Bulldogs dropped a double header to Georgetown (KY) on Wednesday 10-2 (five innings) and 5-2. Union has lost its last four games getting outscored 31-6 in that span. Sunday is the 25th meeting between the two schools. Lindsey Wilson holds a 19-5 edge in the series.
